Going around Bookstores in Kitamoto City and Kounosu City, Satiama Pref.

It is the Kitamoto Branch of Seibunkan that is open until late at night and has a best selection of books. It is convenient because it is open until 26:00 (as of 2002.10.05) midnight and larger than other ordinary suburban booksellers. It is on the Old Nakasendo Road, and it occupy the building with TSUTAYA that is a famous video and CD rental chain shop. The parking lot is wide enough. It is characteristic to have a well-selling selection which seems to depend on sales data and to keep a lot of new comics and magazines. I am a little unhappy at the few Hayakawa Bunko Paperbacks and the few Tokyo Sogen Bunko Paperbacks.

Going over a crossing of the JR Takasaki line out of Seibunkan / Tsutaya, there is the former Kitamoto Branch of Bookland Kasumi, present the Kitamoto Branch of WonderGOO Kasumi and Seibunkan had competed near with each other, Seibunkan looks like winning as bookshop. WonderGOO keeps more game softwares, mobile phones, and less books than Kasumi. But they keep Hayakawa Bunko Paperbacks (2001.6.7). Same chain shop, the Kounosu Branch of WonderGOO, is also changed like that. (2001.03.14)

Moving northward through the Old Nakasendo Road, the Kitamoto Branch of Miyawaki Shoten opened at Motojuku, Kitamoto-shi, on August 29th, 2001. They say "120 thousand books from picture to technical." I felt their selection of books was a little unsatisfactory. But the Kitamoto branch becomes pleasant bookstore now. They have the Kitamoto branch's own web site, and publish a mail-magazine of Kitamoto site. They open from 10:00 to 22:00. (Update: 2003.11.16)

Moving more northward through the Old Nakasendo Road, the Kitamoto-Azuma Branch of Bunshindo Shoten is at Azuma, Kitamoto-shi. It is a typical suburban bookseller which follows video and CD rental, stationery. Though it has a well-selling selection for the most part, it is good spot. They have some Hayakawa Bunko Paperbacks ( 2001.6.1 ). It is open till 24:00 midnight now.

Talking of a 24-hour bookseller, there is the Kounosu Branch of Family Book (corrected, 2003.03.04) more northward. It is a video and CD rental, stationery and variety store. The chain stores of Family Book may appeal to the night birds who want to read books at unbelievable time. Thogh I am not sure whether it keeps its particular selection or it ignores its selection, it tend to keep light goods.
